Ghostly presents a new capsule from Cody Hudson, It’s Alright Cause I Know My Own Way Back Home From Here, named for his new exhibition at Detroit’s Louis Buhl. Our second project with Hudson, the renowned Chicago-based artist, designer, and creative director, aka Struggle Inc., features a short-sleeve tee, long-sleeve tee, embroidered hat, and full-zip sweatshirt. Hudson’s work for brands like Nike, Mister Green, and 1733 stands out in that it always speaks in dimensions. Whether woodcut, cut steel, or just 2D, the sense of space is always elemental to the feeling of the work. Midwestern in character and accessibility, Hudson’s work carries a small but celestial energy, and in the case of his Ghostly collaborations, a playful serenity.
“As stated before, the graphic work of Cody Hudson made a huge impression early on Ghostly and has never left," says Ghostly founder Sam Valenti IV. “His record sleeves (Chocolate Industries, Counterflow) helped define the era in which Ghostly emerged from. His new show is fabulous and was a perfect excuse to talk up a new project.”
Hudson adds: "Sam and I had been talking about doing another project together since our last collaboration in 2021. So when I began working on pieces for this show in Detroit at Louis Buhl, it seemed like a good opportunity to have the collaboration tie into that with all of us having strong ties to the midwest.
