FUSIFORM
Juan Angel Chavez, Mike Genovese, Cody Hudson

june 21-july 26, 2007
RHYS gallery
Boston, MA

FUSIFORM results from the collaborative art making practice of Chicagoans Juan Chavez, Mike Genovese, and Cody Hudson. By combining each artists' individual approach and choice of material, they have created a large-scale structure inspired by the spirit and fusiform shape of a blue whale. Constructed as a site-specific installation, the organic form suggests natural movement, though beached and contained in the Gallery's 2000 sq.+ space. The viewer is allowed to interact with the piece by weaving in and around the form, unveiling sections of collaborative assemblages, in an environment reminiscent of both nature and urban alleyways.

Opening reception: Sunday, April 1 from 3-7 pm.

3039 West Carroll (at Albany)
Chicago, IL 60612
312-420-4720
Hours: Friday and Saturday, 11-6 and by appointment
El: Green Line to Kedzie

With GO BETWEEN, new edition collection, Chicago curator and publisher Dan Devening
brought together 14 significant Chicago-based artists and asked them to produce a pair of editioned multiples that set up surprising dichotomies. The space created by the opposing pairs in each set of works in Go Between, suggests an indeterminate modification from one to the other. Left open to interpretation by the viewer, the works continually shift meaning.

Artists participating in Go Between include:
Kay Rosen
Helen Maria Nugent
Scott Fortino
Amy Vogel
Joseph Grigely
Jin Lee
Cody Hudson

ARKITIP / COLETTE ISSUE
To celebrate colettes 10 year anniversary in March of 2007, Arkitip partnered with the legendary Parisian boutique colette to create a special issue edition. The store has always been known for its affinity to art as evidenced by an impressively long list of exhibits in its 10 year history. To mark their first decade, colette commissioned over 90 artists to create original works that expressed their view of the new year. The proceeds from the sale of which will benefit the WWF.

This special issue edition of Arkitip will be an extension of this very rare exhibition by displaying a substantial variety of these works, allowing them to be seen worldwide via our magazine distribution. Arkitip was charged with the difficult task to choose a sample of these artists for display in the issue. This exhibition will constitute the entire Arkitip contributor section making the assemblage very comprehensive.

This is a one of a kind Arkitip edition, with one of a kind boutique, colette. Enjoy...
